I haven’t had time to update in a while, so I think I will now, especially since Andrew’s all depressed about me not having new posts. ON WITH THE SHOW.

I’m beginning to think that a retail job is one of the biggest pains in the ass one will encounter, without actually wanting it. Har har har.

First off, let me state that in no way do my comments on this post reflect upon the Company’s values, their beliefs, or how other employees may feel about working, or the customers. This blog material is independent from the Company and its affiliates, and no other employee shall be held responsible for its content.

Now, with that said, indian people are the most annoying people to talk to, and sell to. Every time I walk up to someone, they say, “No, I don’t need help” *3 second delay* “Wait, let me ask you 20 to 50 questions, just so that I can get the information, use the word ‘discount’ twenty times, and then leave without buying anything because I can find a cheaper price at Amazon.com anyway!” NOOOOO. I’ve had to deal with these situations all too often in the past two days. What’s worse, we were number 1 in the District yesterday! Number 26 in the Company for Digital Imaging. TWENTY SIX!!! Our poor little store in Irving beat out over 600 other BBY’s in the company. I’m sure that after yesterday’s performance, we didn’t get anywhere close. (We made a profit of not even 20% of what we were supposed to make the whole day.)

Moving along, I’m going to give you an example scenario. In the beginning, when I started my job, I didn’t think that what others had said (not saying anyone said anything…) was so true. It’s unfortunately VERY true, and TOO true, if you will.

Two days ago, we had one guy come in. “I need this Nikon 3200″ said the confused and hasty man, and he promptly pointed out that it was $13 less at Comp USA! Oh My! What do we do in this situation?

Best Buy has no obligation to actually price-match an item. If we can still make a profit off of it, I guess we’ll price-match it, but otherwise, no! So I told the guy, “Let me check with the Sales Manager to see if he’ll go ahead and authorize that.” In reality, I just walked over to the other guy in my department and asked if I should go ahead. He gave the go-ahead, so I went and called Comp USA.

By this time, it was already 9:05.

By this time, CompUSA has already closed their phone line.

I returned with the information that I could not successfully contact CompUSA. He proceeded to tell me that I could look it up on CompUSA. I responded with the statement that I must a) verify that it is in stock in that location, because if it’s not, you can’t get it there either, so there’s no point for us to give a discount, and b) verify that the item is new and not refurbished, open box, etc. Regardless of if we verify this information, we do not have to price-match shit.

So I told him, CompUSA is already closed, sorry! And he said, “Well, can’t you talk to a Manager or something?” and I said, “Sir, the Company is under no obligation to give you a discount. And since I couldn’t call them, I wouldn’t be able to give you one anyway. It’s a policy that won’t change, and that a manager cannot override.”

So annoying. Turns out that he bought the camera at the regular price because he needed it that night, and I advised him that all the other stores were already closed…. =)

All right, so no customer is a perfect customer. They all have their obnoxious little quirks. Like one guy, we asked him about the 18-Month No Interest Financing on the BBY Card, and if he was interested. He replied with, “Well, you guys screwed me over. I thought ‘Yeah I have 18 months to pay; I’ll be able to do it.’ and I kept waiting and waiting and waiting, and 18 months flew by so fast! Then you charged me a bunch of interest!”

Pardon me, sir, for it sounds like you screwed yourself.

ENOUGH ABOUT THAT SHAT.

So what’s happened in my life lately? Uhhh Jase Jase and more Jase :P I haven’t really paid attention to anyone else :Sorry:… I haven’t had much personal time, and I’ve been tired lately as well. Pretty much whenever I got home or was home, I was on the phone with my boi Jase, and my Internet hasn’t been working, but as of Midnight last night, it has supposedly been activated. I called their Tech Support line at 11:47PM. Yes yes, I am lame. They said that, even though it was activated yesterday, that it wouldn’t “be officially active until midnight [of last night]“…. I tried it at 12:01AM, then 12:02AM. Still no luck.

It better work today. I get to go home. I’ll probably talk to Jase and he’ll keep me happy, just like always. I love you boi! Have fun everyone, and I’ll write more, if it pleases me, and you. =)
